Can we all agree?

I NEVER KNEW THE LIGHTER COLOR PART
OH MY GODDD
Lets all discuss this man
[picture] Well it’s true
Damn it. I guess the best way to put it is that I’m in a trance. My mind is just thinking of random shit and acting out various scenarios that don’t even existence, it’s weird.
self-entitled artist rant #3047402: the ‘is this anime’ comments never stop, they just evolve.
the thing is, there is actually nothing wrong with any of the three. the outside people labelling your art anime, Disney, or ‘comic book-y’ are the only reason why it’s a shame. embrace any similarity, even if it’s unintended
everyone—- even people who I have seen that dabble in realism— get these comments. but it isnt going to stop. Hell, only a year ago I was in a class with other aspiring artists, and every crit one girl would rotate between ‘is that based on Adventure time? Is he from Scott Pilgrim?’ but only later did I realize she was trying to find a commonality between what I did and her interests.
if people are assholes about it, don’t care what an asshole thinks. if it’s sincere from someone who just doesn’t know the faux pas, they just find something that they like in your work and people TRY to find words to describe things— it’s one of the biggest issues with labelling.
tl;dr- Your art is unique, but sometimes others’ ability to describe it isn’t.
I’m reblogging this not only for the commentary, but also for people who have responded to this post with the same frustrations so they can see your words—so thank you!
I’m also going to add a bit to it, and because I tend to talk a lot, I’m putting it into a read more.
tl;dr: you are totally right, but adding ‘too’ to the sentence makes me raeg.
